Kaysville Chamber Strings Rehearsals are Fridays 4:00-5:30
For String Players Age 9-15 who play Violin, Viola, Cello or String Bass, with approximately 4-10 Years Experience.
KCS Prep Rehearsals are Friday 3:10-3:50 P.M.
String players age 5-12 with 3 years or less experience.

We at Kaysville Chamber Strings are dedicated to fostering excellence and hard work in each of our young musicians. We are convinced that music is one of the best ways to connect with people of all backgrounds, and we do not discriminate based upon race, creed, gender or socioeconomic status.
Kaysville Chamber Strings is a great supplement for homeschooled students who do not have access to public school orchestra, but is also home to many public school students who need a music group to challenge them and enhance their musical studies and enjoyment.
Young musicians gather each week, having practiced their individual parts beforehand, and together with professional musicians, work out dynamics, musical phrasing, ensemble playing, and overall musical development and improvement.
We put on at least four performances during the school year. The music selected for each concert increases gradually in technical skills and rhythmic diversity. The students show increased capacity to read music, interpret dynamics and phrasing, and play as an ensemble by the end of each school year.
Low Tuition
We believe that participation in music should be affordable, no matter your family size or situation. We keep tuition down by asking each member to contribute time filling volunteer roles and make a manageable financial contribution.
Financial contributions are non-refundable. All members of Kaysville Chamber Strings, including music director, parent support and staff, volunteer their time. Financial contributions are used to benefit each individual member, and will only be used for expenses incurred by the Kaysville Chamber Strings or associated Summer Music Camp.
Elizabeth W. Marsh, Music Director
Elizabeth Marsh began her musical studies at the age of two, and has become an influential cellist, conductor, and educator. She earned a Master of Music from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Southern California. Having studied with top cello teachers including Richard Aaron, Peter Stumpf, Eleonore Schoenfeld, Amir Eldan, Carey Cheney, Richard Hoyt and Monica Call, she is anxious to pass along her love of music to the next generation. She has enjoyed nearly 30 years of teaching experience and over 25 years of professional performance.
As an educator, Elizabeth focuses on fostering high-level instrumental technique, precision, and comprehensive musical literacy. She has taught over 200 string students, helping many to scholarship-backed collegiate programs and helping them build fulfilling musical lives and careers. She authored, illustrated and self-published Scale Trail Challenge and Up to the Bridge to help her cello students build fingerboard mastery and introduce basic music theory.
Elizabeth currently serves as Music Director for Kaysville Chamber Strings, directing and managing two youth orchestras, a cello ensemble, and a children’s choir.
Her extensive performance résumé spans solo, orchestral, and chamber arenas. An active soloist since youth, she was a winner of Utah Symphony’s Salute to Youth competition, took the Grand Prize in the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition, and was a prizewinner in the YMF International Concerto Competition. In her college years Elizabeth served as principal cellist for ensembles including the USC Symphony, the American Youth Symphony, YMF Debut Orchestra, and the USC Chamber Orchestra. She also had the pleasure of participating in the Britten-Pears Young Artist Summer Orchestra in the United Kingdom.
Her performance career has taken her to renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall, Vienna’s Musikverein, the Lincoln Center, Ravinoa Festival, the Hollywood Bowl, and Walt Disney Concert Hall, as well as stages across Europe, South America, Canada, and the Philippines.
Elizabeth deeply values the spiritual power of music as a vehicle for testimony and cross-cultural connection. She served as a full-time missionary in Milan, Italy, and traveled with the international Roads to You Tour Orchestra to promote global dialogue. For more than two decades, she has performed with the Orchestra at Temple Square, serving as principal cellist for a number of years. Her faith-centered work includes recording solo cello continuo for the Tabernacle Choir’s Messiah album and performing as a featured guest soloist in numerous productions of Rob Gardner’s Lamb of God.
She has collaborated with top-tier artists such as André Watts, performed multiple times under the baton of John Williams, accompanied Yo-Yo Ma, Natalie Cole, and the King’s Singers, as well as performing for U.S. presidents, royalty, and other international heads of state.
Elizabeth feels uplifted and strengthened by great music in her daily life. She and her husband, Gregory, homeschool and teach music to their eleven children, striving for a home environment centered on faith, family, and the transformative power of music.
